A Trio of new TAC cards

I'm starting to prepare for my open house this weekend and have been busy making some new samples cards. (Send me an email at lisajtmo@yahoo.com if you're in the mid-Mo area and are interested in attending.) Here's the first batch of cards that I made:

This was a super quick card to make. One of the things I love about TAC's Rustic Chic papers is the border printed on several of the designs. The patterend layer of the card is all one piece of paper, layered on Brown cardstock and then adhered to the Kraft cs base. The image (from Hieroglyph Horses) is stamped in Burnt Umber on Ivory cs and mounted on more Brown cs. Embellishments are from the Amelia "hardware kit".

This colorful card is made with Springtime Garden (T-3231) and Miss Moxie paper (V-841). The base card is made with TAC's Scarlet cardstock. (The image was colored with Copics and the sentiment is handwritten.)

I just love the images in the Girlz and Boyz set. They're cute but kind of funky, so I think the Pop Rockz paper works well with them. Other supplies include Bazzill cs (Juneberry and Petunia), Lime Scrapper's Floss, and flower & button from the Lemonade Blossoms & Buttons. Image colored with Copic markers.

While I was away for the weekend, I got my shipment of new stamps so be on the lookout for more TAC cards later this week!

I'm not "lion"...

... this was a fun sketch! :)

Did you check out the new PWCO sketch yesterday along with the great sample card?

Here's my take on the sketch:

I used the Lucas the Lion from the Safari Friends collection. Lucas is just too cute to be ferocious! :) Rather than coloring him in, I decided to paper piece him. I had a piece of speckled yellow paper that was just right and it was a fun way to use up scraps.

Supplies: Lucas the Lion (PWCO), Basic Grey button, yellow Scrapper's Floss (TAC), Nestabilities blossom die, CM Shape Cutting system with circle template, computer generated sentiment, papers from my scrap stash.

The Big Reorg

... that's the reorganization  of my craft room, not a reorg of the business/workplace variety. And I say REorganization, because, yes, once upon a time, a long, long ago, my craft room was organized. (Why can't it ever stay that way?!) I haven't made a lot of progress but small section of my workspace is clean and I can see where the rest of it will be cleaned up with a little more work.

Besides clearing out some stuff I no longer use, I'm focusing on better organization & storage of my things. One of the projects I'm really happy with is this:

It's a variation on an idea I saw a while ago. I don't remember exactly where I saw it, but it was probably this post on StampinKub's site.

I used strips of magnetic tape since that's what I had on hand. I was running low on the magnetic tape so I only used one strip per page. At some point, I may be buy another roll and place small strips on the top and bottom of each page. But for now, this systems works just fine. (The storage binder is from The Angel Company.)

PWCO Sketch 42

Did you check out this week's sketch and card sample yesterday? If not, be sure to check out the sketch and the cute sample card provided by our guest designer, Janet.

Now, for my interpretation of this week's sketch. I followed the sketch pretty closely. Blame it on my eldest child rule-follower personality. ;-)

It's hard to see in the photo, but I embellished Zoe's hair accessories with rhinestones and Fun Flock. To adhere the Fun Flock, I used my Sakura Quickie Glue pen. I think it's the best glue pen out there - never clogs and has a nice fine point for getting into small spaces.

Supplies: Zoe the Gymnast (PWCO), Prism Cardstock - group 3 (PWCO), Bo Bunny Press - Love Bandit Tweetheart dp (PWCO), Copic markers, 3d daisy (K&Co), red rhinestone (Studio 18 - dollar section at Michaels), pink rhinestones (K&Co), white Fun Flock (TAC), scraps of brown cs, Sakura Quickie Glue pen, QuicKutz scroll die used with Cuttlebug.

TGIF!!

Fridays are always nice but this Friday is extra special wonderful. Today was the last day of summer school - always one of the best Fridays of the year! Now I can sleep in, spending LOTS of time stamping, get back to work on my genealogy research, etc! Well, at least I can do all that for 3 weeks, until I start work again in preparation for the next school year. :)

Another reason to celebrate is the new PaperWorks / Rachelle Anne Miller release scheduled for 9:00 AM MST (10:00 AM Central) tomorrow, Saturday July 17th. Check the PWCO blog if you'd like to see a sneak peek of the new stamps.

And be sure to stop by my blog tomorrow to see my card. Join in on the hop and you might just win some great stamps!

PWCO Sketch 41

This week's PaperWorks sketch is a simple, yet challenging one -- to make a round card. That's it - no fancy layout or necessary elements. Just make a round card. Any round card of your choice.

Well, for me, the idea of a round card immediately made me think of last month's Zach and Zoe sports inspired release. Here's Zach and his basketball (which was the inspiration for the card's shape):

To make the base card, I used my trusty Creative Memories Shape Cutting system and some black cardstock. You can't see it in the photo. but the burnt orange paper is textured, which helps give it that true basketball look.

Go ahead and try this sketch. It's a lot of fun!

Stamps: Zach the Basketball Player (PWCO), sentiment stamp (PWCO)

The hardest card

Recently, one of my bosses lost her sister to cancer. There's really not anything you can do or say to make things better, but I thought a handmade card would at least help show how much I care & that I am thinking of her. Sympathy cards are always so hard, in part because it's hard to find good stamp images to use. I decided to use this sweet "Little Girls - Swing Time" stamp from Lili of the Valley. It's not your traditional "sympathy card image" but I like its warm and wistful feel - and sometimes a hug says more than words could ever say.

I kept the embellishments fairly simple both because of the nature of the card and to make it easier to mail. I bought these 3D daisy embellishments a while ago at Michaels. They were a really fast and easy embellishment.

Other supplies: Martha Stewart daisy border punch, Prismacolor pencils, sentiment (retired - TAC), kraft cs (TAC), papers from my scrap stash.

You are so COOL!

This cool little guy from DigiStamp Boutique July release:

His name is Francis and he is the DSB special offer for this month. He is so adorable and oh so quick to color! If you're looking for a Christmas image to make quick cards, Francis is perfect! I colored a whole sheet of Francis images in about half an hour - and that included a few of the more detailed Francis and Present images.

Ironically, the dp I used for my card is from the DCWV "Citrus Stack". The blue and white print reminded me more of snowflakes than flowers, and it was a perfect match for Francis' scarf. Although it's hard to see, there is microfine glitter on the "ice" below Francis' feet, as well as around the circle sentiment. It doesn't show up well in the photo, but there's also a small silver snowflake sticker attached to the sentiment for some added bling. Other supplies include a sentiment stamp (Merriest Wishes - TAC), black & white ribbon (Michaels) and a snowflake border (Martha Stewart).

Be sure to stop by the DigiStamp Boutique blog to see lots of great sample cards featuring Francis and other DSB images.

A Double Dose of Cuteness!

It's July so it's time for another great release from Sally-Ann Hancock's DigiStamp Boutique! First up is the adorable Tallulah:

Followed by her frosty friend, Francis:

For those who start their Christmas cards in the summer (so that we just might get them done by December!), Francis has perfect timing. I know I'm going to start my Christmas cards this weekend with Francis. I just have to decide which of the 4 adorable Francis images I'm going to use!
