Over the Rainbow

If you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain. ~ Dolly Parton

Boy, do I hope that saying is true because I am due for that rainbow! I'm so glad this stressful, crazy week is over! And I'm also glad that I finally finished my card for this week's It's a Rainbow challenge for Totally Papercrafts. Fortunately, the TP girls are such a wonderful and understanding design team. :)

Coincidentally, this week's inspiration challenge on the Dancing in Pajamas TCP blog also had a rainbow theme - a perfect excuse to break out those adorable TCP penguins!

I also thought it would be a good challenge to try out the herringbone technique over at SplitCoastStampers. This technique was so much fun! I can't wait to try it again.

If you play along with the It's a Rainbow challenge on the Totally Papercrafts blog, you could win a great prize from our sponsor, Delicious Doodles. Also be sure to stop by the blog to check out all the other (timely!) DT members' cards. :)

SFYTT

Whew! I finished my card in time to participate in this month's SFYTT (Sketch for You to Try) and the Inspiration Photo challenge on the Dancing in Pajamas blog. I have to admit, I really struggled with this sketch.

I adapted the color scheme (red/white/kraft/dark brown) and hearts from the TCP Inspiration Photo:

Colour Q's current color challenge is a very similar one, so I'm entering my card into their challenge as well. (Thanks for the tip, Noelle!)

Here's my card after several re-designs:

Here's a closeup of cute little Angel Yappy:

I popped him up with pop dots, added some glitter to his wings and pink to his nose. I popped up the heart accents with just some foam tape, so they are not as puffed out as Yappy, giving him center stage. :)

And speaking of dogs, I got great news today - my foster dog, Tinkerbelle, got adopted over the weekend. Yay!

TCP Tuesday

Today's card is my entry for this month's sketch challenge (TCP144) on the Dancing in Pajamas blog.

Supplies: Give a Little (TCP, oval Cutting System (Creative Memories), border punch (Martha Stewart), ribbon (Michaels), brads, flowers (Prima), Copics, sentiment (TAC, and misc. papers from my scrap stash.

I know - this is Valentines Day, so I should be posting a Valentine. Hey, at least the card is pink. Pink is sort of Valentines-y, right? :-) Oh well, to further confuse my holidays this little dog is actually part of a Christmas set (Give a Little), not a birthday set. I love finding alternate uses for my stamps. :)

The Third Time's the Charm?

Drum roll please.... Post #3 for today! Woo-hoo! (Check here for my Magnolia card and here for my DSB card.)

This card is for the January sketch on Jen del Muro's i{heart}2stamp blog, part of her SFYTT (Sketch For You To Try) monthly challenge.  The sponsor was The Cat's Pajamas and although we didn't have to use their stamps, I am a TCP fan and was happy to use some TCP stamps on my card.

I just love those little TCP penguins! They always look like they're having such a good time!

Another TCP Challenge Card

I'm trying to participate in all of the TCP Tuesday challenges this month. This is my entry for the sketch challenge. It's a little too pink even for me, but sometimes you just have to go for it and see how it turns out.

Dotty Over Polka Dots

Although I have a major weakness for stripes, I also love polka dotted paper. When I decided to play along with this inspiration challenge from The Cats Pajamas blog, I chose the polka dots as my theme.

I chose this paper because of its dots and the sunny colors that support the surf/beach theme. (I just love this paper and have hoarded it ever since I bought it!) I used buttons and a circle sentiment to reinforce the "dots" theme. The ribbon is kind of a "fun find" - it had been used to tie together a stack of dish towels that I'd bought at Target.

Playing with Cats

Today is the last day to enter the latest contest over at the Cats' Pajamas blog, Dancing in Pajamas. I didn't get as many cards done as I would've liked but I did manage 2 more cards over the weekend:

This card is for the inspiration challenge. I used the red & orange colors and the polka dots in the inspiration piece in designing my card.

This card is for the color challenge, which was to use kraft, pumpkin, yellow and celery. I used a sketch from the spring TAC magalog for my layout.

TCP Tuesday

I just love these little penguins from TCP's Smells Like Cake! I just had to use them for this week's TCP Tuesday sketch challenge. And, FYI - The Cats Pajamas is having a 25% off sale through Sunday! So hurry up and check these little guys out along with the rest of the TCP critters. :-)

The printed papers are from an Imaginesce paper stack that I bought from Cindy at StampingScrapping.com. The cupcakes accent on the circles are stamped from the same Smells Like Cake stamp set, colored & cut out. The ribbon accent is something I learned from the MFT technique forum on SplitCoastStampers.

TCP Tuesday

This week's TCP Tuesday challenge was to make a card using aqua, brown and yellow. OK, aqua and brown together - check. I've done that. But throwing in some yellow, too? Yikes! Fortunately, I just bought this beautiful stack of papers called "Laundry Line" from My Minds Eye. ("Hello, my name is Lisa and I'm an addict. A paper addict." LOL!) From there, it was easy to find the right cardstock colors to satisfy the challenge.

Supplies: Laundry Line paper stack (My Minds Eye), Smells Like Cake stamps (TCP), buttons (American Crafts), light teal base cardstock (PTI), brown cs (DCWV), Copic markers, Prismacolor pencils, scalloped oval Nestabilities, CM Shapemaker cutting system with oval templates, Pink Stickes, light teal ultrafine glitter, ribbon from Michaels, raffia.

Happy Feet!

I finally have my first set of stamps from The Cats Pajamas. How could I resist these cute little penguins?

I've participated in a few of the weekly TCP Tuesday challenges and was excited to finally be able to submit one using TCP stamps! I love sketch challenges (as you've probably guessed!) and I really liked this sketch. It was easy to work with and I love how the card turned out. I also love this little Salsa Junk Padz from Junkits. Except for the base card (PTI cs) and the white cs, all of the paper is from this little pad of paper.

Here's a closeup of these cavorting cuties:

I've been resisting buying the Nestabilities scalloped circles, but I've decided they will be my next purchase. Just two plain mats around the penguins looked boring, but my only scalloped punch wasn't big enough to punch a mat for the image. I thought that the edges of the blue scallops peeking under the card added a little interest to the plain circles.

Supplies: Smells like Cake (TCP), Raspberry Fizz cardstock (PTI), Salsa Junk Padz dp (Junkitz), Prismacolor pencils, black Versafine ink, ribbon (Michaels), large brad (Making Memories).

Luck o' the Irish

I don't have any stamps from The Cat's Pajamas yet, but maybe I'll have a little luck of the Irish and win this week's challenge. (If you dig back far enough, I do have a bit of Irish blood!) The challenge theme was St. Patrick's Day so I used this Stamping Bella image that I received in a swap.

The card is based on a sketch by Donna that she created for the Taylored Expression Anniversary bash.

Supplies: Goodluckabella (Stamping Bella), Creative Memories square Shapemaker punch, Copics, ribbon from Michaels (?), flower from Target, Making Memories button, Karen Foster Scrapper's Floss (TAC).
