The Early Bird

I'm definitely not the early bird with this week's WWW card. Oh well, I don't like worms anyway. ;-) I'm lucky I managed to get this card photographed at all tonight. After many, many unsuccessful attempts, I finally had success using my daughter's SD card in my camera. The good news is that it's just a bad memory card and not a problem with the camera. Whew!

It took me forever to play around with the composition of this card until it felt right. Once I did, though, it came together really quickly thanks to TAC's Amerbeley Grace (V-840) paper. It looks like I spent a long time distressing the aqua background paper, but the awesome sponging technique is part of the paper's design. All I added was some stitching, edge distressing with my Heidi Swapp distressing  tool, and a quick swipe of Tea Dyed Distress Ink on the exposed white edges.

My image (this cute bird from the Sunflowers set) was stamped onto one of the tags that comes with the AG paper. I mounted the tag on a scalloped circle punched from some of TAC's Brown cardstock and added a bit of color with my Copics. Voila! I have a very detailed focal image with very little effort. I love how the tag coordinates with the background paper, too.

A Digital WWW

I haven't had any cardmaking time this week, so I thought this was a good time to introduce a few digital "TAC-like" stamps.

First up is The Angel Company's own "Digi Design House" line. These are oldies but goodies, retired in rubber but brought back to life in digital form.

And, if like me, you're a fan of TAC's own Mabelle Ramirez-Ortiz, you can find her line of digital cuteness in her Etsy shop., Whimsy and Stars Studio. Mabelle has recently added some adorable new Easter images, just perfect for Easter cards, 3D projects, etc.

Wednesday with Wings - Inspiration

This week's Angel Company card isn't mine. It's made by the uber talented Angel, Holly Mays.

A Western Wednesday with Wings

In keeping with the challenges going on over at the Outlawz Challenge site this week, today's Angel Company card has a Western theme. I remember seeing tutorials years ago for the bandana technique. Being short on Western-ish paper, I decided to try making my own "bandana paper" for my card. I'll post a short tutorial Friday on how I turned some plain ol' Scarlet cardstock into red bandana print paper.

Supplies: Hieroglyph Horses (TAC), Scarlet, Brown, Ivory and Kraft cardstocks (all TAC), light brown cs (DCWV), Burnt Umber Palette ink (TAC), Tea-Dyed Distress Ink (Tim Holtz/Ranger), Memento black ink, white gel pen and antique copper brads.

Sweet & Simple

This week's Wednesday with Wings card is sweet and simple. I haven't been feeling well and couldn't muster enough energy to do anything but color in some images last night. Blech. Plus, I wanted this card to be suitable for either a baby girl or baby boy - so I kept the embellishments simple and gender neutral.

 

TAC Supplies: An Udder Birthday, yellow & aqua DCWV cardstock, Brighten My Day striped dp, Copics, Swirly Sentiments (retired), Noir Palette ink, corner rounder.  Other: border punch (Fiskars), star button.

Even though the name of this set is An Udder Birthday, its images can be used for a variety of occasions. This particular stamp reminds me of the line in the nursery rhyme "and the cow jumped over the moon". :)


I hope wherever you are, that it is warmer than here. The temp is finally supposed to rise above freezing (barely) on Friday.Brrr! Good stamping weather, though - it's too cold to do anything else! ;-)

A Wishful Wednesday with Wings

OK, Mother Nature,  I get it. You are good at making snow. Really, really, really good at making snow. However, I'm tired of it. I want warmth! I want flowers! I want spring!

Well, according to Punxsantawny Phil, spring will make its debut in six weeks. (Personally, I just think he was scared to tell us we might be stuck with 6 more weeks of this. Someone might've turned him into Punxsutawney stew!) In the meantime, I need a little spring so here goes:

Isn't she a cutie? She's one of the girls from the set "Oh No She Didn't!". I just love that set. :) The papers are from the "A Little Whimsy" stack - another favorite of mine. Other supplies: Palette Noir ink, Black & White Ribbon (TAC), greeting (retired-TAC), Copics, flower, button (Lemonade embellishment jar), pink scrap.

Oops!

I finished my Wednesday with Wings card Monday, photographed it on Tuesday but completely forgot to schedule my post for today! I remembered at work - eek! This will be a fast post, because I have to go back to work shortly to sell tickets for tonight's basketball game.

This week's card has a definite vintage feel from the dainty violets (Flower Trio set) to the rich vintage papers (Juliette SWIC with Kraft & Ivory TAC cardstock). I used Prismacolor pencils and OMS to color in the images. (I don't have the right Coic colors. My purple selection is growing, but it's not there yet.)

Other supplies: Burnt Umber Palette ink, MS daisy border punch, dark brown ribbon, flat-backed pearls, distressing tool

Ice, Ice, Baby!

Ugh! Winter hasn't even officially started and I am already ready for it to be over! We are getting some frozen precipitation tonight and they've already had to close off highways in the areas due to accidents. It was definitely time to do some stamping to get my mind off all of this miserable weather we're having!

I sponged my favorite brown ink (Burnt Umber Palette ink) around the image and edges of the base card to help "age" the card. This card was inspired by one that I saw today while I was blog hopping. (I thought I saw it on Laurie Schmidlen's Just Give Me Stmaps blog, but I didn't. I really have to start writing down where I find these things!) If I figure it out, I'll update this post. (I like to give credit where credit is due!)

I'm off to check the "Ice Tracker" and head to bed! I hope they manage to get down enough salt & cinders on the road tonight.

A Wild Wednesday With Wings

I confess. I have a "thing" for Christmas cards in non-traditional colors. Yes, red and green are very pretty. Yes, I'm a traditional kind of gal in a lot of ways. But I just love seeing and making Christmas cards in unexpected hues. Thus, I came up with this Wednesday With Wings card, featuring stamps and other products from The Angel Company.

Wednesdays with Wings

I've struggled to find time to promote my Angel Company (TAC) business lately but I have been super jazzed up about TAC after I received the newest catalog. So, I'll be featuring TAC stamps & papers every Wednesday in a new feature called "Wednesdays with Wings" (WWW).

This week's theme is

THE GIRLS OF SUMMER

Sadly, this is my last week of summer! I go back to work part-time next week and then full time the week after, as school will be starting. So this is my farewell to warm summer days, swimming at the lake!

The first card features a brand new set, "Oh No She Didn't" (T-3332, $15.95). I just LOVE it! Does this little girl have attitude or what?! (I"m just glad she's not my little girl, lol!) Other supplies include Mia's Cottage SWIC (R2503 $4.95) and matching cardstock (B318 $6.50), Copics and an orange brad. (The little blue tag is part of the SWIC paper pack.)

Next up is a long-favorite, Squirrelly Girl. You have to hand it to Squirrelly Girl - winter, spring, summer or fall she always seems to having a great time with her squirrel friend!
