World Card Making Day Blog Hop

Today, October 5th, is officially World Card Making Day! This holiday is an opportunity to celebrate the creativity of handmade cards and the personal connection that they create between friends and family. It's a day to connect with fellow card makers both near and far, to applaud the creativity that powers the craft, and to provide an opportunity for card makers to connect and find resources that will empower, inspire, and encourage them in their card making. It’s also a time to get a jump-start on the holiday card-making season!

At Designed To Color, we’ve decided to celebrate this special day with an awesome Blog Hop!! Our Design Team and special guests have made some amazing cards! Several of us will also be sharing some card-making tips along the way. Please leave a comment on each designer’s blog and then a comment at Designed To Color to let us know you have completed the hop. We will pick 1 random winner for a prize package consisting of goodies from various sponsors including:
Crafter's Companion
Yumi & Fumi Handmade
…..just to name a few!
You have until MondayOctober 7th, at 11:59pm MST to leave a comment on each blog. We will announce the winner on Wednesday, October 9th. GOOD LUCK!
Here is the blog hop order:
Lisa (that's me!)
GUESTS from TSD:
For my card, I used this cute new penguin digi stamp from DigiStamp Boutique - Waddle.

Supplies: Waddle (DSB), Frost snowflake digi papers (DSB), ribbon (Michaels),
aqua and lilac cs from scrap stash, rhinestones (Michaels),
chunky glitter (Martha Stewart) and Copics.

My cardmaking tip is to keep a binder full of card sketches. When I am in crunch time time get a card done (like tonight when I got home at 10 PM from work!), having some sketches to choose from will free up time to concentrate on the fun stuff - coloring in your image, choosing your papers and embellishments, etc.! This particular card is based on a sketch from Splitcoaststampers, but there are many sites out there with great card sketches including Page Maps and Mojo Monday

We hope you are inspired to create something special for World Card Making Day. If you do make a card please stop by the Designed To Color Facebook Page to share your creations. We would love to see them!!
OK, your next step is to visit Lyn's blog and be sure to leave a comment.
Have a great weekend!

A Humorous Challenge

Friday, oh Friday, I am so glad you are finally here! For a four day week, this one sure has felt every bit as long as a five day week! I could really use a little humor right now, so it was the perfect timing for this week's new Totally Papercrafts challenge - Bring Humour to Your Creations.

One of our sponsors this week is Bugaboo Stamps. I was thrilled to find this funny Ruby Chocolate image. Chocolate is my favorite food group - it makes everything better! :) And speaking of candy, check out my post below for your chance to win some Halloween blog candy from yours truly!

Supplies: Ruby Chocolate (Bugaboo), dp - Vintage Bliss 6X6 pad (Simple Stories),
kraft cardstock, clips (Paper Studio), vintage seam binding
and Copics.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:
Make It Monday - Anything Goes
Sister Act Card Challenge - Anything Goes
Catch the Bug - photo inspiration (I work in a school so the school supplies made me think of work and how crazy the start of the school year is. It definitely requires some chocolate!)

Head on over to the Totally Papercrafts challenge blog to see the rest of the girls' cards and have a chuckle or two. Make a funny card of your own for a chance to win a prize from one of our two great sponsors, Bugaboo Stamps and Alota Rubber Stamps!

Something Wicked This Way Comes....

It's October 1st, which means Halloween is just around the corner! It's my husband's favorite holiday, so he does a lot of decorating while I do a lot of crafting. For my most recent projects, I used a couple of the cute new Halloween images in the DigiStamp Boutique shop. First up is this fun little candy box using Witchy Florence. (I found the candy box tutorial on Samantha Peyton's You Tube channel.)

After coloring the image with my Copics, I embellished the card with some glitter and a few 3D stickers from Michaels.

Here's a back view, which shows this cute spider digi paper, which can also be found in the DSB store.

Next is my favorite project - this cute little tag. While I'm a huge admirer of Tim Holtz's famous Christmas tags, I'm always a little intimidated by tags. However, this one came together really easily using one of the Halloween Squares and the Halloween tag, which was part of the September freebie set. I had fun picking through my ribbon collection to find just the right ones for my tag. I love this black and orange ribbon by May Arts!

Here's a closeup:

I'll be entering my projects to into the following challenges:
Sister Act Card Challenge - anything goes
Make It Monday - anything goes
CMC Color Challenge - Fall or Halloween colors

Now, all this talk of Halloween and sweet images makes me think of one thing - Halloween CANDY! To help celebrate this fun time of year, I'm giving away a little Halloween candy of my own - blog candy, that is.

The rules are short and sweet.
1) Visit the DSB shop and leave a comment below with your favorite Halloween image.
2) You do NOT have to be a follower of my blog in order to be eligible. But if you'd like to become a follower, use the appropriate link from my sidebar for either Bloglovin or Google Friends Connect.
3) Please mention my Halloween blog candy on your blog or Facebook page, if possible.
4) I will ship internationally, so everyone can play!
5) My blog candy will close on Tuesday, October 8th. Winner will be announced on Wednesday, October 9th. Good luck!

Happy (soon to be) Halloween!
Lisa

Photo Inspiration

Welcome to another Yumi & Fumi Handmade challenge! For this challenge, Team Yumi took their inspiration from this photo:

Hmmm, I'm not a fan of green. However, I do *LOVE* pink, so I took my inspiration from the round pink bouquets in the photo:

Supplies: Fumi with Messenger Bag (Y&FH),
Lime Twist twine (MME), button, scraps from stash, pop-dots
self-adhesive rhinestones (Recollections) and Copics.

My card is made with the ever fashionable & sassy Fumi with Messenger Bag. Isn't she cute? I'm going to show her off on the following blogs:
Sister Act Card Challenge - anything goes
Make It Monday - anything goes
Simon Says Stamp - anything goes

Head on over to the Yumi & Fumi Handmade blog to join in on the fun, using ANY stamp! You could win a $10 gift certificate to the Y&FH store! And, while you're there, be sure to check out the other great Yumi and Fumi projects from the rest of the DT!

Witchy Wishes!

It's almost October and Halloween is just around the corner. The dark, shadowy, spiderweb filled corner... But fear not, brave stamper. Just around that corner is the cute little witch - Witchy Florence.

Supplies: Witchy Florence (DSB), sentiment (DSB), bubble border punch (EK Success)
spider punch (EK Success), Copics, papers from my stash.

She's currently the September Offer of the Month, so grab her from the DSB shop before the October specials are released this coming week!

I'm entering Florence into the following challenges:
Sister Act Card Challenge - anything goes
CMC Copic Challenge - Fall or Halloween colors

And since thoughts of Halloween make me think of Halloween candy, I'll be back on October 1st with a sweet treat of my own - some blog candy to be sent to a lucky random winner. So, be sure to come back on Tuesday to see some more Halloween projects and get entered into my Halloween "candy" draw!

Happy Birthday!

It's birthday celebration week at my house! My youngest daughter turned 15 Wednesday. This weekend she's having a slumber party to celebrate with her friends. I plan on holing up in my craft room for the evening. LOL!

It was my turn to choose the theme at this week's Totally Papercrafts challenge, so of course I chose a birthday theme - "Happy Birthday, Baby!" To play along with the challenge, just make a card or other papercrafting project with either a birthday or new baby theme. Our sponsor this week is the fab DigiStamp Boutique, who is giving away 6 digital stamps of the winner's choice. Wahoo! For my card, I chose Winston - All Seasons because my daughter LOVES all things owl.

Supplies: Winston (DSB), dp - Vintage Bliss (Simple Stories),
Tiffany Blue cs (Paper and More), ribbon (May Arts) and Copics.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:
Penny's Paper Crafting Challenge - Two or more patterned papers
Card Makin' Mamas - For the Kids
Challenges 4 Everyone - Anything Goes
CMC Color Challenge - Anything Goes
The Sisterhood of Crafters - Divine Digis
Tuesday Throwdown - Things with Wings
Chocolate, Coffee and Cards Challenges - Anything Goes (2nd entry)
Sister Act Card Challenge - Anything Goes

Play along with us this week at Totally Papercrafts for a chance to win 6 digis of your choice from DSB. But first, check out what the rest of the DT has made for our "Happy Birthday, Baby" theme for a little inspiration.

Happy Stamping!
